Congratulations my sweet friend, I bet your on the edge of your seat with anxiousness. I became a grandmother in my late 30's my oldest just turned 17 a couple of months ago. My youngest grandchild to be is still in the oven and not sure when it will be coming, sometime later this year I believe and it will make an even dozen for me. I so want her to have a girl as she has three boys already, and it will make it 6 grandsons and 6 granddaughters for me. But the main thing is the baby is healthy..

I became a grand parent when I was 46 and again at 48. My oldest has my hair, auburn with blonde edges. She's is 12 now, so I'm thinking in about 6 yrs I could be a great grandpa.

I popped into grandparent in my mid 40s..LOL ,,I am 65 and the youngest granddaughter is 15...got 5 grandchildren and only two are still in high school..super glad that none of those grand children are turning me into great grand pa yet! LOL Although I do have four great grand nephews. ugh! One granddaughter is planing a wedding already...she is 20 ,,i cringe when she speaks of that and she knows how I feel about married at such an young age. Her life not mine. If not for this spine surgery I would still be flipping and flopping on the trampoline...I love doing those acrobatic tricks!!! Sunday's 20 minutes for my extreme joy. After a 5 mile run. LOL Tell me about old and young feelings.

Congratulations Joy, hope the grand child is healthy and robust...when will you move there? Big question huh? No need to answer that question...that is a private thing... I am old and I am not...twenty or thirty years from now old, but I hope not so old that I can't do stuff. Best wishes kiddo!

Hi Joy. thanks for sharing this post. I have fought each new phase of my life "kicking and screaming"... because I am ignorant... I end up embracing who I am anyway... so, why fight it... and, you know what... the grandfather thing is so much easier on me... I luv being with my 3 grand kids... all boys... there is a change in one's life as they go thru a different stage... there is... for me... at least... another slicing of time... that must occur... I feel the need to devote more time to the three new people brought into this world... but, it is a different version of me... not the younger single man... not the younger parent... not the middle aged conscience... no... an older, hopefully, kinder and more patient person... less of the me, me, me attitude and more of the "it's ok... don't worry about it..." everything will be fine... and that for me... is different... and, that's all I've got to say about that... except that it is ok for you to change... it will be ok for you to ponder how much time you will invest in this new person... hmm... Ambrosia - "Time Waits for No One" Hurry up, get along, be on your way And make sure that your certain It's not the wrong day Punctual people are lost in their plight To become unprecedented when they arrive Why am I searching and when will I know? Are the years that I've waited with nothing to show? I'm ready to listen I'm ready to win But I can't wait much longer before we begin Time waits for no-one Time waits for no-one no-one, no-one There's time to conceive in and time to expire Though the time 'twixt the two tells the tale that transpires so why must we continually disturb the universe With decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse So people don't worry 'bout where you've gone wrong cause you know if you hurry it takes twice as long Relax and forget about what's to be done, it's time to have fun Time waits for no-one Time waits for no-one It really doesn't matter much to me I know the best times are timeless, you'll see... Well I'm not a parent but I'm still hoping to become a grandparent before I'm 50. What? Is that now how it works? I know some women who were grandparents before they were 35. Not sure if that affected them in any way. Is there an "ideal" time for becoming a grand parent? Good luck with the induction.

I became a grandpa when I was 54, when I married my 3rd wife, and it was instant, as she presented me with 7 already made grand-children. The youngest was 4, the oldest was 16, and I LOVED being a grandpa !!! Of course, they already had two others, but I still enjoyed every minute I got to be with them! The worst thing my now past wife did to me, was to pull these wonderfull grand children out of my life ! I DONT miss her, but damm I miss the grand children, every day !

Congratulations! I think? lol Just kidding darling. I told my sons not to have children of their own until thirty, so if they follow my advice I'll be in my sixties when I become a grandpa. I'm fine with that. Thoughts from the Garden...

Both my daughters births were the result of first wife being induced. I was 56 when my first grandchild was born My present wife's son was by C-section.....My oldest daughter's two son's were by C-section but my younger daughter had both kids naturally and both by less than 1/2 hour labor.......son's son was 27 hours labor!

I was 48 (only a few weeks before my 49th)! I had told my daughter that she needed to wait until I was 50! Lol, clearly, she did her own thing, lol. Wouldn't change it for anything. "Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax." – Mark Black
